Entry 5: Something that happened in school

It was s

upposed to be a glorious day for me, as there were only three subjects that day, namely Physical Education, Physics and Design and Technology. Morover, two of those subjects does not require us to sit in class listening to a teacher, and Physical Education is my favourite subject as I love to run around.
However when I woke up, it was raining, so there was only a slim chance that we could play outdoors. Luckily after flag raising, the weather took for a change and it became bright and sunny. Thus, that only means one thing: We could have our beloved physical education lesson!
The teacher let us play soccer that day, so when we all took to the field, I was so estatic that I forgot that the ground was still wet and slippery. I thought that nothing would happen to me, so I ran around like usual, chasing after every ball like a mad dog.
Then suddenly, when I was passing the ball to my team mate, I lost my footing, slipped and fell head first to the ground. The field is also made of artificial turf and the turf were laid on a cement floor, so that does not help to cushion my fall but it made the impact of the knock on my head even harder. In no time, I started to see everything in pairs, and I started to "sleep".
About five minutes later, as my friend told me, I regained consciousness, but I could only vaugely see the whole class around me, as my vision was still blurred. My whole head then started to ache and I felt like vomitting. I also felt very tired and immediately went to the sick bay to wait for my parents to bring me to the doctor.
Fortunately, the doctor said that I did not suffer any internal injuries, only bruises to the head. However , I had to pay a price for my recklessness and had to miss the next day's C Division hockey match in case or aggrivation to the bruises on my head. After this unfortunate incident which happened in school, I vowed that I would be careful while playing and not be too over enthusiastic, especially when the ground is wet and slippery.

Entry 4: Something unusual that happened that day

Today, we did not need to go to school, as our principal decided to reward us for our school's good O Level results with a day off. Naturally, all of us were estatic, but it also nrought back memories of what happened to me on that day two years ago, when I was in primary six.
It was just like any other weekday. I woke up at five thirty in the morning, took a bath and left for school without taking my breakfast. However, when I got onto the buss, there were no students. Usually on a typical day, I would not even find a seat on the bus, but on that day, the bus was empty except for a few elderlies who were heading for the market.
Throughout the bus trip, I kept checking my watch to see if I am too early or if my watch was spoilt, but it seems that my watch was in perfect condition. As the bus travelled closer and closer to my school, no students came onto the bus. In fact, I did not see any students from any other schools on the bus or on the bus stops too! Unusual, I thought to myself.
When I reached my school bus stop, I saw that my school was dark and empty. The small pavement that usually crowded with students talking to each other was also empty. By then, I was very curious and walked towards the school gate. "Boy! Do you know that there is no school today?" the security guard called out to me. I was puzzled and asked back,"why?" Hearing my answer, the guard looked bemused and answered me,"Today is National Day!"
I gasped and looked at my watch. It stated: 9/1/2007. What the guard was saying was true. I thought aloud," How could I forget that today is National Day?" The now embarressed me then hurridly apologised to the guard abd quickly headed back home and went back to sleep. I woke up again at ten and continued my day. Until now, no one else except the security guard knows about this incident.

Entry 3: A moment spent alone doing something I enjoyed

Now in secondary school, we have to spend most of our weekdays afternoons in school, for CCAs, project, remidiation etc, thus depriving all of us students a chance to spent an afternoon alone at home, doing something we enjoy.
Fortunately that day, I had nothing on, so I decided to go home and do something which I had not done since the school holidays. There was no homework that day, so when I got home, I took a quick hot shower, got myself a cup of hot milo, turned on relaxing music and started to read.
I read all kinds of book, from crime thrillers to fantasy, from historical fisctions to true accounts. When I read, I would drink something hot to stimulate my mind. I would also hear jazz music, instead of rock or rap songs as I find it irritating and disturbing. Some people may think that they rather spend their free afternoon playing the computer or watching the television, but I find that reading is more meaningful as it helps to increase your knowledge, and knowledge is power.
That day, I finished reading the book "Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke and also started on Stephen Leather's "Dead Men". As I contined reading, my eyes became more tired and eyesbag started to develop. So, I took a reluctant break from my reading and looked at the faraway green from my window. I feel that we should also develop good reading habits while reading. One should not be lying down to read, should notbe putting the book too close to tour eyes, and a short break is always neededafter every hour of reading.
Suddenly, the house door opened and I stared at the clock. Good gracious, it was alreadi six o'clock in the evening and my parents were home, and that means that a pleseant afternoon of reading had come to an end. How I wish that I could spend more afternoon a week alone doing something I enjoy.

Entry 2: A difficulty I faced

Just over a year ago, I remembered taking my grade 7 electone examinations. In electone (a musical instrument similar to a organ), the starting grade is grade 13, and the graduating grade is grade 6. The songs that I had to play in grade 7 are difficult and I have never been that good in electone, always just scraping past every exam.
Furthermore, my parents paid over a $120 just for me to take the examination, so the pressure was on me to pass. The examconsist of five sections: songs, arrangement, side reading, improvisation and hearing, and I was not very good at the latter three sections.
The exam was held during the school holidays, so when I woke up, I practised non-stop until noon, had a quick lunch, and headed to the exan venue half an hour earlier to register. Then I waited. While waiting, I thought: This exam is dirrerent than the others. Will the examiners be fiercer? Will I lose my composure and plat a wrong note during the exam? Will I pass?
As all my friends went in and out of the examination room, cold sweat was starting to pour over my body and I was shivering. My friends who went in before me gave me the thumbs up sign and I felt a little reassured. But when I stepped into the examination room, I started to panic again. Luckily, the examiners smiled at me and I calmed down.
The songs and arrengement section was fairly easy, but when it came to the sight reading part, my heart started throbbing again. Then I thought of the lessons that I had, my teacher and everyone that is supporting me and I managed to go through the rest of the exam quite easily.
A month later, I received my result. I managed one point again but nonetheless it is a pass.I had gone through this difficulty, because I thought of everyone who supported me and I hope that if you (the reader) has any difficulties, you could try this method too.

Entry 1: A moment I enjoyed with my family

I love Saturdays, because all we do is play, play and play. But last Saturday was even more special, as we had to entertain our extended family who came to visit us from Australia. And that means more play!
As usual, we woke up at 10.30a.m and then went to the country club. My sisters and cousin went to play the latest came console while my aunt and mother went to sit down to chit-chat. My uncle, father and I then went to play tennis. My father is good in tennis, as he took it as a CCA in university, and I put up strong resistance before I stumbuled and lost. Fortunately, the match against my uncle was a different story, and I won him quite comfortably.
After lunch and shower, we went to East Coast Park, where we could do recreational activities such as rollerblading and cycling. All of us chose cycling and we started off. We cycled all the way to Ford Road and back. It was tiring no doubt, but it was also enjoyable and healthy. We cycled for the whole afternoon and until my mother said it was dinnertime, I did not realise how hungry I was.
We went to the Jumbo outlet at East Coast Park for a seafood dinner and as expected, it was good. We ate all sorts of seafood such as crabs, prawns and fish wlile watching the sunset and the view was magnificient and we talked while eating. After finishing the food, we reluctantly went home.
It was a moment I enjoyed with my family. It may seem normal, but I know that my parents took a day off just to take us out. Yes, adults nowadays are more busy, but parents should also spend more time to bond with their family. I am very fortumate to have parents who always spend time with us, and I will always appreciate it.
