Now in secondary school, we have to spend most of our weekdays afternoons in school, for CCAs, project, remidiation etc, thus depriving all of us students a chance to spent an afternoon alone at home, doing something we enjoy.

Fortunately that day, I had nothing on, so I decided to go home and do something which I had not done since the school holidays. There was no homework that day, so when I got home, I took a quick hot shower, got myself a cup of hot milo, turned on relaxing music and started to read.

I read all kinds of book, from crime thrillers to fantasy, from historical fisctions to true accounts. When I read, I would drink something hot to stimulate my mind. I would also hear jazz music, instead of rock or rap songs as I find it irritating and disturbing. Some people may think that they rather spend their free afternoon playing the computer or watching the television, but I find that reading is more meaningful as it helps to increase your knowledge, and knowledge is power.

That day, I finished reading the book "Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke and also started on Stephen Leather's "Dead Men". As I contined reading, my eyes became more tired and eyesbag started to develop. So, I took a reluctant break from my reading and looked at the faraway green from my window. I feel that we should also develop good reading habits while reading. One should not be lying down to read, should notbe putting the book too close to tour eyes, and a short break is always neededafter every hour of reading.

Suddenly, the house door opened and I stared at the clock. Good gracious, it was alreadi six o'clock in the evening and my parents were home, and that means that a pleseant afternoon of reading had come to an end. How I wish that I could spend more afternoon a week alone doing something I enjoy.
